Welcome to the University of illinois alumni club of greater washington dc!

(also known as the "DC Illini")

 

Our club strives to support the educational purposes of the University, cultivate friendship among club members, and express loyalty to and promote the welfare of the University of Illinois. We are also committed to providing community service and giving back to the area as well as to U of I.  We do this through a variety of educational, social, cultural and athletic activities and programs.

  • Who Can Be A Member?  Graduates, former students and friends of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, or Springfield may join.  Our members tend to live in DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland since most of our events are held in this area.
  • Why Join?  Joining provides a great way to expand your social and professional networks.  We're one of the largest alumni clubs outside of Illinois. Dues-paying members receive additional benefits for club events--via advance registration opportunities and discounts.
  • Activities & Events  The club hosts a variety of activities and events each year.  Past activities and events have included:
    • Networking events
    • Football and basketball game watching parties at local bars and road trips when games are within 6 hours of D.C.
    • Illini sporting event ticket blocks when they play away games at the University of Maryland
    • Group outings to local cultural centers along with tours of area attractions
    • Access to university events held in Washington DC
    • Trips to local sports events: Nationals, Wizards, Capitals--usually when a Chicago team is also playing
    • Local intramural sports league (softball)
    • Luncheons to honor local alumnus and their accomplishments
    • And many more!
  • Giving Back  We offer many ways to support this area and your Alma Mater. For example:
    • Each year, we award scholarships to outstanding area students who attend the University of Illinois.  $10 of your annual dues go to this scholarship fund, and many members make additional contributions.
    • We participate in local community service events to promote giving back to our local DMV community.  We try to choose events that family members can also participate in!
