2026 Douglas Award for Ethics in Government

douglasawardThe University of Illinois System will be awarding the 2026 Douglas Award for Ethics in Government to the Honorable Richard J. Durbin, U.S. Senator of Illinois, at a ceremony in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time at the Senate Hart Office Building.  To RSVP for the event, please click HERE to register.


Doors will open at 4:30pm, the ceremony will begin at 4:45pm followed by a reception.  The original room for the event was smaller, but they now have a larger location which will allow more attendees to register for the event.


Senator Dick Durbin, a Democrat from Springfield, is the 47th U.S. Senator from the State of Illinois, and the state’s senior senator. Durbin serves as the Senate Democratic Whip, the second highest ranking position among the Senate Democrats. Senator Durbin has been elected to this leadership post by his Democratic colleagues every two years since 2005. Durbin serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and sits on the Appropriations and Agriculture Committees.  Senator Durbin was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996, prior to his Senate election, he served served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1982-1996. Senator Durbin will retire at the end of this year.
